Place to Visit

In the surrounding area, you can visit:
Cumiana: The Cumiana Villas are particularly worthy of mention, classical aristocratic residences dating back to the late seventeenth century. Also interesting is Palazzo Canalis, a grandiose building erected in 1666 according to the will of Conte Canalis and which was acquired in 1801 by Conte Provana of Collegno. The illustrious personalities who frequented bear testimony to its importance and include the writer Vittorio Alfieri.

Fenestelle: An important Roman military garrison was passed over from the French to the Savoy dynasty in 1713 with the Utrecht Treaty. In order to protect the territories acquired through the treaty, Vittorio Amedeo II had the Fort of Fenestrelle built in 1727, never used for military operations, as a prison fortress. The fort is a spectacular construction which is actually formed by three smaller forts, batteries, redoubts and staircases. The Covered Staircase, with 3996 steps alongside the Royal Staircase, is the longest in Europe. For those who wish to visit the fort, the Pro Loco (local tourism agency) organises tours of various durations, ranging from a brief 45-minute walk to a daylong visit.

Frossasco: Frossasco, a village of Roman origins, preserves four famous entry gates: Torino, San Donato, Pinerolo and San Giusto. From a cultural and historical point of view, the sixteenth-century Church of San Donato, with three naves and a baroque central vault, is particularly significant, while the area's natural beauty features the presence of the rocky walls of the "Rocca Sbarua" at the Melano Refuge, 1060 m up.
