Places to Visit

Cantalupa is a peaceful agricultural centre situated in the Val Noce, which can offer its visitors relaxation as well as the opportunity to go on long walks surrounded by nature.
From a cultural point of view, places of interest include:
The Parish Church of Santa Maria Assunta
Built between 1738 and 1745 on the site of an ancient Benedictine monastery, the church houses numerous paintings attributed to Defendente Ferrari and fourteen paintings of the "Via Crucis" by the Cumianese painter Giuseppe Chiantore. The majestic baroque-style entrance is of considerable importance, as are the main altar in walnut hardwood and the Romanesque bell tower, which has been classified as a national monument.
Next to the parish church stand three country chapels:
La Chiesa della Maddalena (Church of Mary Magdalene)
Built on a panoramic hilltop in 1727 on the site of an existing building, probably dating back to 1572, it has an octagonal form with an external portico.
La Cappella di Sant'Antonio (Chapel of Saint Anthony)
Dedicated to the abbot Saint Anthony, it was built around 1811 and benefited from the inheritance left by G. Matteo Druetto, a Franciscan tertiary who pledged his earthly goods in 1690.
La Cappella di San Martino (Chapel of Saint Martin)

Having passed under the jurisdiction of the provosts of the monastery only at the end of the eighteenth century, the chapel has recently been restored and enriched by the sculptor Michele Privileggi.
