Places to Visit

In the centre of the town, the iron watermill wheel is worth a mention, situated next to the bridge across the river Noce. With a diameter of eight metres, it is the biggest wheel in Piedmont and was once one of the monastery's five mills. It has been completely restored to its original condition.
Furthermore, Cantalupa is the perfect starting point for numerous walks as it is surrounded by majestic mountains and other areas of outstanding natural beauty. We recommend a visit to the "Tre Denti" and "Freidour" Mountain Park, rich in mountain and forest footpaths, most of which are easy even for the inexperienced walker to follow and clearly signposted. You will be able to discover enchanting and spectacular views enhanced with colourful flora which changes from season to season.
If you listen carefully, you may be able to detect the presence of the animals who live in the woods and hear the cool rushing waters of mountain streams as they head towards the lower valley. The more experienced hikers among you will be able to reach the Tre Denti and subsequently, following the ridge, Mount Freidour. As well as numerous gentle itineraries, the park is also able to offer more challenging routes for climbing enthusiasts.
